Engineering systems for optimized bioprocessing

What we do
We design and implement innovative bioreactor systems to transform abundant yet often underutilized waste, such as brewery wastewater, dairy runoff, food waste, and lignocellulosic biomass, into economically viable, high-value products, including carboxylic acids and alcohols. One example is a biofilm bioreactor, which utilizes inexpensive support material to develop and enrich the biofilm microbial community, enabling simultaneous filtration and biofilm-enabled microbial conversion.
What we do
We design and implement innovative bioreactor systems to transform abundant yet often underutilized waste, such as brewery wastewater, dairy runoff, food waste, and lignocellulosic biomass, into economically viable high-value products, such as carboxylic acids and alcohols. One example is the anaerobic dynamic membrane bioreactor, which employs inexpensive support material to develop dynamic membrane biofilm for simultaneous filtration and biofilm-enabled microbial conversion.
